SUFFERING BASTARD!

 

Suffering Bastard is a highly acclaimed, immersive "speakeasy" tiki bar located in Sanford, Florida. It is tucked away inside Tuffy’s Bottle Shop & Lounge and is known for its intimate atmosphere, detailed tropical decor, and potent cocktails.

ALOHA! For now, but not forever.

Bidding a fond "farewell for now" to a total classic this past Thursday. Tuffy’s is officially closing this location for extra storage space, but the legend lives on! They’ll be moving to the Mills area and are aiming to reopen in Q1 of 2027.

While there with friends an co-workers, I was inspired to create this 11" X 17" print that is now available on my site.

I had the traditional Mai Tai for old time sakes and a Pearl Diver to compare once they open back up again.

We have been reasured that everything will remain the same or as close as possible to the original however with more space. I really hope that is the case since Suffering Bastard is a dark, exotic, and fun place to kick back a few after a long day.

Closing and Relocation Details

The bar has officially announced it will be closing its Sanford location on April 30, 2026, after seven years of service.New Location: It is relocating to the Mills 50 district in Orlando.

Timeline: The Orlando opening is tentatively expected in the first quarter of 2027.

Highlights

Atmosphere: Designed by Typhoon Tommy, the space is small (seating roughly 30 people) and fully immersive, often compared to high-end Disney bars like Trader Sam’s but with more complex drinks.

Cocktails: The menu features over 40 drinks, including classics like the Zombie and house specialties like the "Stay Puft Marshmallow Man" and "Witch Doctor". Drinks are ranked by strength, and patrons are limited to only two of the strongest "Suffering" level drinks per visit.

Reservations: Because the bar is so small, reservations are highly recommended and often book up weeks in advance, though limited walk-ins are occasionally available
